Knit Inspiration

A recent trip to Birmingham has opened my eyes to this spring's new knitwear, I took a trip to forever 21 and topshop just for a quick look and was quite surprised by the range of techniques and all the colours were beautiful.
This knitted skirt by Topshop reminded me of how simple a knitting project can be but how effective and rewarding. A knitted skirt is a weirder choice but I think they are versatile and unique. And extremely easy to make! This skirt was around £38 and you could make a simple acrylic version for half the price!
This is the cutest jumper I've seen this year! My boyfriend actually spotted this and called me over! The mint green looks lovely in this photo, in real life it was a bit on the tacky side but it reminded me that hidden in my stash of yarn was some mint baby 4ply that my grandma gave me when i first started knitting. I have never had a use for it because it just isn't really for me, but I can imagine this pattern idea as a crop jumper or bag, maybe even some cute socks!

This ombre cardigan from forever 21 really caught my eye, the colours are lovely. I would love to knit this in a more waterfall front version.

This lovely fairisle knit jumper by forever 21 reminded me of my punch card heart pattern I used to create an infinity scarf for my etsy shop. This is a really nice idea of graduating colours.

DIY Ombre Trainers

This is my fave DIY so far! It's a bit messy as it involves dye but the effects are really awesome. This DIY cost me a total of £5.50, the plimsolls were £3.50 from Primark and the dye was £2 delivered off Ebay. The rest I already had. You will need:
-White trainers
-Fabric dye
-Vaseline
-An old cloth
-Bleach(optional)

 1.
Take the laces out of the shoe, i think this makes the ombre pop a bit more when the laces are put back in, but it is up to you.

2.
Stop the sole being dyed with vaseline.

3.
DO NOT USE THE SINK IF YOURS HAS A CRACK OR DAMAGE!!!! As it will stain your sink, probably better to use a plastic washing up bowl. I use my sink all the time for dying and it is fine but i do not want other people to ruin their bathrooms!

4.
Dip your shoes in a third of the way and hold them there, wait about 3-5mins for the dye to soak up.

5.

6.
Use a wet (old) cloth to bring the dye further down the shoe, keep doing this until it is totally blended.

7.
If you have made any mistakes you can take some diluted bleach and rub over the mistake. This is optional as I know a lot of people hate bleach and if you are sensitive wear rubber gloves as bleach is a skin irritant.

8.
Leave to dry and re-lace your shoes.
Wear with pride!

Ombre Nails

I absolutely adore these nails! And there are so many colour options too. I have decided not to do a tutorial because there are so many out there for this nail art. But the Models Own shades I used were Lemon Meringue and Sun Kissed.
